Here at Syndicate Comics & Collectibles, we work regularly with local artists and writers that are looking to break into the comics industry. Here in the Creator’s Corner, we feature some of the very talented independent creators who work with Syndicate, and how you can support and connect with them!

Deegan Puchkors

Deegan Puchkors is a full-time freelance comic book artist hailing from Atlanta, GA. Deegan has illustrated many variant covers to titles from Image Comics, including titles like Supermassive, Slumber, The Closet, Afterschool, as well as other independent works.

Insane Genes

Mr. InsaneGenes is the artist and writer behind All-New Heroes: Watcher, #1, which follows a mysterious superhero residing in modern day Atlanta, Georgia under the name “The Watcher”. After seeing the evolving and unrelenting crime wave overwhelm local law enforcement, the Watcher jumps into the fray to restore order to a chaotic city. Little does he know that crime is not the only evolving force of danger…

Kristian Herrera

Kristian Herrera is a freelance comic book creator, editor, and writer based in Atlanta, Georgia. Kristian has worked on multiple anthologies and comic book titles including We Called Them Myths, Prolong, Punk’s Not Dead, and Sidekick For Hire. Kristian also has run and consulted on multiple successful crowdfunding campaigns, but most importantly, he’s having fun!

Leo Moss is a broke work-for-hire Sidekick that gets hired by millionaire vigilantes (Batman Wannabes), but he, unfortunately, sucks at the job and gets the heroes hurt, or worse, killed!

Meet the faces behind Prime Vice Studios, the creators of books like The Ambiguously Brown Couple and Lung Girl!

Carlos “Loso” Perez, MFA

Founder/ Creative Director of Prime Vice Studios, LLC

Carlos "Loso" Perez founded Prime Vice Studios because of his art addiction. Always compelled to create, he opened PVS as a platform to continue to fulfill his passion and work with others. He earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree in Sequential Art in 2016 and has since been teaching comic creation workshops around the world and sharing his expertise through online platforms. He is currently a professor at Kennesaw State University.

Loso seeks to work with progressive establishments and serve his community by providing compelling artwork, teaching comic workshops and developing creative talent.

His most recently published comics include The Ambiguously Brown Couple Vol. 1, a humorous slice of life comic, and The Five Minute Circuit, a lighthearted comic about a fitness trainer helping her artist friend get into shape.

Ananya Vahal, MFA

Ananya Vahal is a writer with a focus on creative nonfiction, comic books and digital content creation. She earned her Masters of Fine Art in writing in 2018. She is certified in viral marketing and has almost a decade of experience creating digital content for companies. 

She is the creator and writer of the Lung Girl comic book series, published by The Sid Foundation, which raise funds for lung transplant patients. She teaches writing workshops all over the world.

 

Her most recently published books include The Ambiguously Brown Couple Vol. 1 comic book, a humorous slice of life comic, and Kiss Papercuts Goodbye, a book about inspirational Asian women around the world which she coauthored.

Jason Flowers

Jason Flowers is a comic artist and the creator of Bounty Bullfrog. He has illustrated cover art for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT: The Last Ronin, The Last Ronin: Lost Years, and The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution. Other work includes covers and published pieces for Image Comics, IDW, Aftershock Comics, Devil's Due and Scout Comics. He has had creator owned graphic novels published by Caliber Comics and Arcana Comics and also illustrated sketch cards for Topps, Upper Deck, Breygent and Unstoppable Cards on such licenses as Star Wars, Mars Attacks, Marvel Premiere, Clerks, Alien, Dead World, Vampirella and Night of the Living Dead.

Jason Kochis

Jason Kochis is a comic artist and creator of Koji & Maru. In edition to his comic work, Jason is a graphic artist with his work being published in The Art of Modern Rock, Tres Logos, Artist & Graphic Designer's Market, and Clutter Magazine. Some of his clients include: Coca-Cola, Atlanta Braves, Cartoon Network, Live Nation, and Mellow Mushroom. He also successfully crowd funded a book featuring over 350 of his gigposter designs for the bands Superdrag, Letters To Cleo, El Scorcho, and Dinosaur Jr.

Koji & Maru

A heartwarming all ages tale of how Koji Takahashi's life takes a remarkable turn when he is given a stuffed toy panda named Maru. Little did he know that this adorable panda would come to life. Instantly forming an unbreakable bond, Koji and Maru embark on a thrilling adventure together.

Jermaine Mims

Jermaine Mims is a comic book artist and illustrator from Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Heritage High School Academy of Fine Arts in 2019 and earned his BFA from Kennesaw State in 2023. His passion for comics and art bloomed when he was a child.  He specializes in telling vibrant and action-packed stories that will immerse readers into another world with its visual storytelling. He has worked with publishers such as “Darkmoon Comics,” an upcoming indie publisher, and “Line Webtoon,” the world’s largest online platform for digital comics. In the future, he hopes to work with publishers Boom Studios, Dark Horse Comics, and Image Comics.

Dawit Trench

Dawit Trench is the artist and writer behind Carnivore: Part One, a horrifying story of a man being pursued by a hungry alien beast which will stop at nothing until it feeds on human flesh.
